Trial Membership

We offer an obligation-free 4-6 week trial period, during this time you can decide if Scouts is something that your child enjoys.

To begin your child’s trial membership, please complete a Trial Membership Application Form from the button below.

Please note: We are unable to hold a trial vacancy open without a completed application form. Trial memberships are subject to each section's available capacity at that time.

Following a successful 4-6 week trial period, we will invite your child to formally join the World Scouting Movement during an Investiture Ceremony.

We will let you know when your child is ready for investiture and work with you to schedule a date and time.

Meeting Times

Location

All sections meet at our Scout Hall at Col Sutton Reserve on Baulkham Hills Rd.

Costs

Our membership fees are charged per school term. Your first invoice will cover a joining fee and the term which your child completes their trial membership and is invested as a Scout.

The joining fee covers member registration, all uniform badges and a group scarf.

The Annual Membership Fee includes membership of Scouts NSW, insurance coverage and provides funds for running our Scout Hall, equipment and some activities.

The cost of additional activities, usually those away from the Hall and on weekends (for example hikes and camping trips) will be an additional expense. Leaders aim to minimise these costs as much as possible.

Discounts available

Uniform

You don't need to purchase a uniform during your trial period.

A Scout Shirt and Woggle are the only formal requirement of the Scout uniform. Your child will need this for their investment ceremony. Please allow 5-7 days for delivery.

All uniform pieces, clothing and accessories can be purchased online from the Scout Shop, and all orders include free delivery.

Our group will supply all the badges and Scouts scarf when they are invested as a member.

Family Involvement

Scouts are a 100% volunteer organisation and we encourage parents and families to also get involved in Scouting. There are lots of ways to help out and we're always keen to have your involvement.

Parents and Carers are invited (and encouraged) to join us at regular Scout meetings, camps & activities.

We encourage parents and family to stay at the meetings for at least the first couple of weeks of the trial period as it can sometimes take a while for your child to get used to the Scouting experience. Once your child is comfortable, you're welcome to leave and return at any time for pickup.

We also very much encourage parents and families to get involved in Scouting activities. There are lots of ways to help out and we're always keen to have your involvement.

Parents and Carers are invited (and encouraged) to join us at regular Scout meetings, camps & activities.

Adult Helpers

We encourage you to complete an “Adult Helper” application form as part of your Child’s membership application. There is no cost for this membership.

A valid Working With Children Check and Scouts NSW Adult Helper Membership are mandatory requirements for any Adult to attend regular or overnight activities.

The application process can sometimes take a few weeks so we encourage you to complete the application forms early to avoid disappointment when camps or activities are organised.

Become a Leader!

Interested in joining our Parent Support Committee or Leadership team as an Assistant Leader?

We only ask for a few hours each week to help run the Group.

No prior experience is necessary!

We offer full training and cover all your membership costs.

Leaders are the lifeblood of the Scouting Movement, doing their part to support thousands of children and young people to grow and develop through Scouts.

We are an organisation run by over 3,800 volunteer Leaders who are hugely important to Scouting. There are many reasons to become an Adult Leader - the personal satisfaction of helping young people to achieve their goals is immense, and your sense of personal achievement when you help them through a hurdle is nearly as strong as theirs!

As an adult supporter with our group, you will also receive a 15% discount on your child’s membership fees.

Thank you again for choosing to try Scouts with our Group. We look forward to meeting your family soon.
